Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken to its twitter account to revealed what formers governors of some Nigeria states gets as pension.


In Lagos, as a former governor, Youre entitled to TWO HOUSES- IN LAGOS AND ABUJA AT BETWEEN 500m and 700m, SIX BRAND NEW CARS EVERY THREE YEARS, FURNITURE ALLOWANCE OF 300% OF ANNUAL SALARY EVERY TWO YEARS While in Borno State, 400m is what you get as a “retired governor”, BULK PAYMENT OF 400m AS SEVERANCE, TWO VEHICLES, TWO STEWARD, A BEFITTING HOUSE IN ANY LOCATION OF YOUR CHOICE , FREE MEDICAL, TWO HOLIDAYS OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY AT 10m EVERY 6 MONTHS


In Yobe State, a governor serving for just 4 or 8 years will be entitled to a life “pension’ which includes; 300m EVERY 4 YEARS, DEPUTY 150m, TWO VEHICLES REPLACEABLE EVERY 4 YEARS AND TWO DRIVERS, FREE MEDICAL FOR SELF AND FAMILY IN NIGERIA AND ABROAD. There is no much difference in Gombe State as a former governor gets 300m Every 4 years for life.


200m is the ‘pension’ a former governor of Sokoto gets Every 4 Years for life.


SERAP while motioning Nigerians to rise and condemn the unfair pays has urged all former governors now in the ninth Senate to “publicly commit to stop collecting pensions from their states while they serve as senators, return ‘pensions’ already collected to the public treasury, and push for the abolition of double emoluments laws for former governors and deputies in their states
